Gift Basket redo

Hi Everyone I’m here with my first blog post for Helmar

I’ve turned a purple flower basket into a sunflower dream lol

My grandson is obsessed with farm animals that’s why my Mother’s Day card is a cow hahaha
He also picked the flowers for me

I created this for Helmar using their fabulous glues

You can see all the design teams work on the Blog and see handy tips on ways to use the different adhesives they have on the website

I’ve used the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive (one of my favourite glues Helmar sells) also the Fabric glue and the Tiger Grip glue on this project

I started by painting the basket with black gesso
Once it was dry I rubbed over it with some old gold wax
Then around the top and bottom I added some paper clay borders

I then used my sunflower mould with some more paper clay - its so good as it’s so light and can be glued using a good glue like Helmar - any in their range would work I chose to use the Tiger Grip cause I know this will adhere just about anything together

Once all the flowers were in place I wanted to fill in some of the gaps so I used a mix of small and medium art stones added with some Super TAC Glue
I make a mix in these little cups I have its a consistency of wet sad so I can make it move to where I want it to go -as in all the gaps as empty spaces that need filling

Then I added some Colour Cuts by Scrapbook Fantasies - so perfect with the sunflowers
I love the rustic looking tub they are in
I needed them to stick fast so I used the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive I was worried about them slipping off because its a round container its hard to lay on its side and keep it still long enough and the 450 is awesome for this purpose

I then used the Tiger Grip for the metal brooch embellishment I put in the middle of the large sunflower

The middle of the basket was still purple so I found some fabric that went well with the colours and cut it to fit
I then used the Fabric Glue to make a “hem” - I wasn’t getting a needle and cotton out when I know it wouldn’t be seen and the glue would make a crisper edge anyway lol

I then cut pieces of ribbon and attached it to the handle for some extra colour and added a dab of Fabric Glue to each knot to make sure they stayed in place
Added a couple of little embellishments randomly and that’s it
One plain purple basket into a Sunflower Dream lol

They also have a Facebook Challenge page so don't forget to check that out as well this has different challenges to enter

This month's theme is “Sea of Dreams”

I chose this girl out of the ones on the sheet I loved the colours in the image

I used some Kraft cardstock on the background then painted some white down the middle for some contrast
I then used a circle stencil to add some dimension and texture to the background making it look like bubbles in the water

I added some blue spray over the white then added some gold drizzle down the sides of the stenciled area to enhance the gold in the image

The embellishments I added were just some little metal beach-themed charms and some tiny shells and then I added some of the small art stones to look like fine white sand

I also created this canvas as I was pulled to these images which are from the "Drawn to Movement" set
The free-flowing clothes, the messy hair
I love the sketchy feel

I painted the background of the canvas with impasto giving it texture and a little dimension

Then over the background, I used a black spray and a palette knife to spread it around making sure to get it into all the grooves
Once it was dry I did the same thing with a brown spray
I think it almost looks like a marble finish

I added the paper clay frame around the outside of the canvas after I painted it gold making it look like a frame

I added some paper clay feathers a bird and a moth to show the movement and then added positive word stickers around the images

I have an excess of pencils from my daughter in laws bridal show so I painted them and added some to the canvas along with a mini clipboard which I attached the title of the images "Drawn to Movement"

Thank you for visiting I hope you will come again soon xxx
