Book Cover for Memory Maze

Hey Everyone

My turn on the Memory Maze blog today and I thought I'd decorate the front of a book I got cheap out shopping the other day

Make sure you check out the rest of the blog for great inspiration from the Design Team and see what's new on the Memory Maze Website as the Boss seems to have a great imagination and brings new things out all the time

I'm not sure if I'll use this as a note book or as an Art Journal yet but I'm sure it will get used eventually

I found this book in a store for $5

I then used black gesso with a roller it gave it such a smooth finish

In this corner I added a paper clay ceiling rose a metal piece and the Mini Frayed Edge Chiffon Rhinestone Flower Light Pink with a few little white flowers
The pink chiffon flower is so pretty I could use it on everything LOL

I started buy putting the Scribble Frames Two and Embellishments down, I added a doily then added some straws that I cut at different lengths, I then put a silver metal circle under the Owl Swirly
I added the key to the side and some muslin to the other side

I used some Pineapple Fusion I won from The Resin Rainbow it came with a whole bag of goodies then I added a paper clay ring of flowers over the top to make it look a bit like a wreath on a door with a little resin heart
Along with the paper clay key hole
Then I added the Wrought Iron 30 to look like some iron work on the door

I added lots of the timber bits that you get with your canvases and then added one of the globes from the Globes set

I used a metal that had diamonds around the edge and added some flowers along with some Mermaid Beads

I had some of the Chicken Wire Small I cut it into two pieces and used it in two of the corners of the book
I used a metal corner and added a glass bead as well as some Mermaid Beads and some Diamond Gems

I love flair buttons and this one is from Flutterby Designs
The little camera was from The Resin Rainbow as well
I went around and added bling and Mermaid beads where I thought they were needed

Then I used some Finnabair Art Alchemy acrylic paint that's gone a bit thick- I used my finger, so I rubbed it over everything then I used some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop that I have made up in a bottle with water spraying as I went till I was happy with the finish
And I glued everything down with Helmar Premium Craft Glue

I had a tassel so I attached some string so I could use it to mark what page I was up to in the book

Best Buddies for Memory Maze

Hey Everyone

My project this week for the Memory Maze Blog is a layout of  a photo from my son's 18th Birthday Party
These are his close mates that he's gone to school with
Two from Primary School and the other was from High School which they all went too

I started of by using the  Lots of Squares Stencil with the Finnabair Graphite Texture Paste

I raised the photo up with some cardboard and glued it with the Helmar Acid free glue the rest of the chipboard I used the Helmar Tacky Craft Glue
On the Best Buddies I used Finnabair Metallique Wax in Old Silver but then went over it with Fire Ruby because the words didn't stand out enough

On all the Cogs and Pulleys12 x 12 All there is is Cogs for everything and the Clock Face I used the Finnabair Metallique Old Silver Wax
I love how silver it is the chipboard actually looks like metal

The Girls for Art and Soul Studio Challenge

Hey Everyone

This months Challenge is RED
The mood board bellow is for inspiration and you can use that as a starting point but you MUST use RED
There are 3 x $50 vouchers to win
One for a card
One for a layout
One for a journal page/mixed media project
Check out the Art and Soul Mixed Media Blog for more Details
And make sure to share your project to the Soul Sisters Facebook Group for the chance to win

Some of the metal I was lucky enough to have leftover from doing Finnabairs classes in early November I flew up to Hervey Bay just to do the classes and meet Annette and Amanda and was lucky enough to meet lots of other lovely ladies too
And of course meet my Mixed Media Idol Finn what a beautiful soul so down to earth and she was so patient with everyone wanting photos and autographs (I didn't do either I felt bad to ask)

Thats how I found out about the embellishments under the glass counter and a few other bits that haven't made it to the website - there are SO many things in the store so if you're after something check with them and you never know they may have it that's why sometimes I may use something that's not on the site

so as you can see all my pieces are painted red I started off by painting them with clear gesso
Then painted them with Finnabair's Acrylic Metallique Royal Red and it wasn't quite the colour I wanted so I added a coat of the Red Wine over the top it's so rich not that you can tell by the photos

I used the Dusty Attic Mandala Stencil with some Finnabair Heavy Body Gel when it dried I painted it the same as the embellishments

The metal embellishments are a mix of Finnabair mechanicals, Art and Soul Studio (from under he glass counter make sure to take a look) and the large flower is a Little Birdie Sharon Cherry

Heres a close up of the little bird in the cage - the place the wedding was held is called the Budgie Smuggler so I had to put a bird there (they have a huge cage of budgies as you walk in it's so cool)
The Pearls underneath are from Frank Garcia Memory Hardware Pearls

This is one of the embellishments that live under the glass counter (they are all silver to start with)

I used Finnabair's Art Alchemy Metallique Wax in Old Silver over the top of everything to show all the details some of it is just from how the paint strokes left their mark

I love the Little Birdie Flowers they are textured so when I rubbed the wax it enhanced the texture

I used Finnabair's Art Pebbles on the page these are so versatile and make great space fillers
I used the was on these after painting them with the clear gesso first

Paint for Colour Blast

Hey Everyone

For my Colour Blast Blog post this week I couldn't decide which photo I like so I did both as they were both to do with paint

You will find the Colour Paste here at the Colour Blast shop or find your nearest Stockist here

Colour Paste Canvas

So for the first canvas after painting with White Gesso  I used the Colour Paste as a paint rather than a paste to paint my very uneven stripes the colours I used are - Apple of my Eye, Blush, Fire Engine, Singin the Blues, Sunshine and Tangerine Dream I did two coats so the colours came out intense like they do when you use them as a paste through a stencil

I also painted the paintbrush that was covered first in BlackGesso which makes the colours look different - I used Fire Engine, Sunshine and Apple of my Eye

Then to do the stencilled dots I used Colour Paste Stormy Weather

I added a few embellishments like the transparent butterfly and the Today which I've had forever I think they were Heidi Swapp
The dotted card I'm not sure if it's Project Life or Kaiser and then the words are from Tim Holtz's Small Talk sticker book
The paint Brush I just added some flowers and a butterfly that I can't remember where it came from I've had it that long

Colour Shimmer Cubes Canvas

The second Canvas I splattered the watered down Colour Shimmer Cubes over the canvas after painting it with White Gesso the colours I used are - Apple of my Eye, Fire Engine, Punch, Singin the Blues, Sunshine and Tangerine Dream

Then to do the little frame from Memory Maze I used Colour Shimmer Cube Leather

I painted a small piece of watercolour paper with Tangerine Dream Sunshine and Singin the Blues and used a flower sticker I've had for ever I think it came with the green butterfly from the other canvas and the butterfly on this canvas

I had some old paint brushes that I dipped in the same three colours so it looked like they were the brushes I used to paint the canvas then put a few flowers across the bottom

I also used another card this time stripes from either Project Life or Kaiser with a Small Talk sticker quote

I had a little clear arrow I've had in my stash for ever - these canvases have been great for using up older pieces

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will come back soon x
